‘Substantial periods of genuine piety’

So the big launch came and passed, and we now have a dedicated ‘anti-terrorist’ think-tank. Set up by ex-callers of khilafah, the new callers to ‘Western Islam’ is the ever-shrinking Qulliam Foundation.

According to one of its ardent supporters, ‘It was very interesting. I’ll write more observations later, but interesting in itself is the list of speakers and supporters (in order of speaking): Dr Ghayasuddin Siddiqui, Dr Usama Hasan, Shaykh Abdul Aziz Bukhari, Timothy Garton Ash, Lord Paddy Ashdown, Rachel North, Dr Musharraf Hussain, Jemima Khan, Dr Ali al-Saleh, Arsalan Iftikar and Mohammed Ali Hee.’

You’d agree we have the cream of society here! So let’s look at who appeared from the Muslim community. You had some guy called Mohammed Ali Hee, apparently an ex-HT of Denmark! Dr Ali al-Saleh - the Imam of the Shia Milltown Islamic Centre in Ireland, he is on record attacking the Sunni Muslims in Ireland and notably scholars such as Shaykh Salman al-Oadah. Arsalan Iftikar is a contributing editor of Islamica Magazine.

The only 3 Brits to support the QF were Dr Ghayasuddin Siddiqui – a pro secularist and anti orthodox. Dr Musharraf Hussain of Muslim Hands in Nottingham, and Dr Usama Hasan of City Circle - who is reportedly going round telling people that he is advising the QF so that they do not go beyond the pale of acceptability. Really Usama – have you asked Ed to renounce his attacks on the Prophet yet?

Okay, so what will they be doing? According to a news report they will be creating ‘rehabilitation centres to deradicalise’ Muslims by ‘exposure to intense and substantial periods of genuine piety!’ Hmm, I wonder how that rates with subtantial periods of loud Music? Have they taken this idea straight out of the manual ‘How to run an American Gulag?’ I mean substantial periods of genuine piety – from Maajid and Ed?

The think-tank will be used ‘to rescue our faith from those who have hijacked it’. Very noble, this is exactly what he said when he joined HT – it seems in Ed’s world everyone keeps hijacking his religion!
But the best tactic must be ‘to encourage students to wear clothing suitable for mainstream society’ and not ‘Pakistani ethnic attire suitable for a different climate’! There goes the support from London’s Green Street then!
